United deservedly return to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over a disappointing Chelsea side. Indeed, Ten Hag's men made rather harder work of this than they might have.  Fernandes had a penalty saved before McTominay netted the first of two goals. The Scotland international and his team- mates should have added to their lead before Palmer equalised against the run of play, and Chelsea were right in the game at 1-1.  McTominay's second came from a header that withstood a VAR check, though, and the Blues offered precious little thereafter.  Three points take United up to sixth ahead of Saturday's clash with Bournemouth, while Chelsea, still searching for consistency, stay 10th and play Everton next on Sunday.
