Chelsea are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 4-0 win over Preston. For the first 55 minutes or so, it was actually a tight game, with both sides struggling to find a breakthrough. 

Things flipped on their head when Broja got on the end of Gusto's cross to flick a header past Woodman 58 minutes in. Silva came off the bench to double their lead from a corner, thumping his header past the keeper before Sterling curled in a free-kick from just outside the box three minutes later. 

Fernandez rounded things off late on, with the goal given after a lengthy VAR check showed that he wasn't offside as originally flagged. Chelsea will find out on Monday who they'll face in the next round, and they have the first leg of an EFL Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough in midweek. Preston's poor run of form continues as they're knocked out of the FA Cup, and their attention turns back to the Championship when they face Bristol City next time out. United deservedly return to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over a disappointing Chelsea side. Indeed, Ten Hag's men made rather harder work of this than they might have.  Fernandes had a penalty saved before McTominay netted the first of two goals. The Scotland international and his team- mates should have added to their lead before Palmer equalised against the run of play, and Chelsea were right in the game at 1-1.  McTominay's second came from a header that withstood a VAR check, though, and the Blues offered precious little thereafter.  Three points take United up to sixth ahead of Saturday's clash with Bournemouth, while Chelsea, still searching for consistency, stay 10th and play Everton next on Sunday.
